I think a combination of the two would be perfect. The dress from the first drawing is looks really nice because of the velvety shades, but the skin is a little bit too cold for the hands, in my opinion; also red hair is hard to believe that it would become green in the shade, or at least not so intense. In the second drawing I can feel the warmth and materiality of the hair and skin. Maybe you should try to apply the effects differently for the different parts of the drawing so that it would be a well balanced overall design Hope it helps.
